transRobota conference, part I
Preparatory conference for the realization of the 7. edition of the Baltic Contemporary Art Biennial in Szczecin
The conference provided information about the curatorial concept of transRobota – the 7. Contemporary Art Biennial to be held in Szczecin in Summer 2007 (on the area of Lasztownia peninsula). The invited artists and conference participants visited Lasztownia - a postindustrial inner-city area with a yet uncertain future. During the following lectures and panel discussions the organizers focused on the questions of transformation and changing labor conditions and the impact that those process might have on the future of Lasztownia. Additionally throughout several presentations comparison was drawn to similar art projects concentrating on revitalization and adaptation of post-industrial spaces. The conference served as a point of departure for the invited artists to develop the artistic ideas and interventions conceived especially for Lasztownia and transRobota project.
