The Forum Artists-in-Residence (FAR) programme was initiated in summer 2005, and is successfully realized since 2005, attracting the interest of international institutions. FAR is included in the actions of the annual visual arts festival “Action Field Kodra” that takes place in the grounds of a former military camp in Kalamaria (Greece) and is organised by the Cultural Organisation of the Municipality of Kalamaria.
Artists from various parts of the Mediterranean, the Balkans and Southeastern Europe, as well as from East and West, are invited to present their personal viewpoints. FAR puts emphasis on the support and enhancement of the multiple points where history touches upon contemporary reality. Among the main aims of FAR is networking and exchanges with similar institutions and contemporary art centres, so that residence artists may be given the opportunity to develop their course in many different directions.
