MEETING EUROPE: Poisoned source? - Polish Contemporary Art in a Post-Romantic Landscape, Riga (Latvia)

 A Poisoned Source? exhibition creates a path towards understanding of Polish culture and mentality, both deeply rooted in Polish history perceived throughout the romantic paradigm. The event also aims at introducing Polish contemporary art to the Latvian and international audience.

The artists invited to participate in A Poisoned Source? exhibition propose a critical dialogue with the romantic heritage and focus on it’s creative potential versus its pitfalls and its current reinterpretations. The invited artists,  representing the leading Polish art centers, address the posed question in many different ways by adopting great variety of means of expression (computer animation, installations, sculpture, postcards, photographs, interventions).
A Poisoned Source? aims at the investigation of the very roots of Polish mentality and culture adds to the understanding of the complexity and cultural diversity of Europe and the promotion of art as an important tool for questioning and renegotiating of the collective imagination.

The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual publication.
