Research Trips
Period: 29/10/2007 - 04/11/2007
We decided to go to Lebanon, which had just emerged from war, to get an overview of the local artistic creation. Before and during the trip, we have always tried to keep in mind how delicate can be to establish bases for mutual understanding and future fruitful collaborations, without sounding condescending. We only succeded thanks to the help and advice of our local contact persons: Georges Zouain and Rana Yazigi from GAIA-Heritage and, among others, Amal Issa, a young artist living in Beirut.
As a matter of fact, we got to meet dozens of artists, curators and media/fine arts professors. We have also had the opportunity to get in touch with several private galleries and non-profit organizations. In the end, we were able to better understand the situation in Lebanon and to imagine, together with the people we met, new possible ways forward.
Participants:

Ricardo Echevarria (curator and president of the Associated Visual Artists of Madrid)
