Romania has been the first country we decided to visit. We went to Bucharest at the end of June, from the 24 to the 29. Our local contacts for this trip were Raluca Voinea, young independent curator and art critic, as well as Irina Cios, director of the International Center for Contemporary Art (ICCA) and organizer of the 2007 Visual Eurobarometer exhibition.
In less than a week, we managed to meet over fifteen artists and saw their work, discussed with at least five critics/curators who gave us fascinating insights into the Romanian scene and we had the chance to get together with five active directors/coordinators of local cultural structures.
In addition, we were invited to join the 2007 Visual Eurobarometer jury and we eventually saw the work of almost thirty young remarkable artists (among others, Olivia Mihaltianu, Diana Duta and Vlad Nanca) .
